I've always loved dance, even since I was little. But due to an injury that I'm still trying to recover from, I can't pursue dance as a career for now.

But that did not stop me

I wanted to work with something dance related, even though I couldn't dance at the time. So I started to research different dance schools in my town and found one dance school I’ve always liked and heard good things about.

I scammed through their website and found an “work with us” page and sent an email. I’ve always been a person that dives straight ahead and always puts myself out there and challenge myself, so I wasn’t scared but I was nervous for the response.

Some days went by and I received an email, it was the dance school grounder and he wanted an interview. At this time I think I screamed in excitement, I was one step further towards my dream.

I went to the interview and we clicked and he offered me a job on the spot, he also offered me to work as a dance teacher assistant in the future when I felt ready to do so.

Today I work as a receptionist one day a week and jump in when they need me, but I’m sure I’m gonna get more hours in the future.

For me a work day looks like this;

I open up the dance school, check the whole area for what I need to clean or not, clean, start the radio and the coffee machine. I help any dancers or parents with their questions as well as I keep the area clean and take payments for the coffee. Then I do a little bit of admin work, check if all dance class payments are in and so on. When I don’t have that much to do I clean or look over the social media.

So that was how I landed a job as a receptionist at a dance school.I feel so lucky and grateful that I got this job.

Anything is possible, no matter how hard it seems and you can work at a dance school if you want to.
